Two different methods for evaluating evidence are systematic review and controlled clinical trial. Systematic review is the process of assessing a group of subjects and reviewing the data from the study to conclude on a particular clinical issue. Within a systematic review, data is organized through meta-analysis. Meta-analysis is defined a way of combining data from many different research studies (Portland Community College, 2020). Controlled clinical trials are used to determine the effectiveness of a medication or treatment compared to another. There is a control and a placebo involved in the experiment to differentiate between the two and determine the effectiveness of the results. These experiments can either be conducted blind or randomized. Scientific studies are classified on a diagram for quality with systematic reviews and meta-analyses at the top of the pyramid with these sources being the strongest for evidence collection.
