The first question that needs to be asked prior to disseminating information is, who is the target audience? For my proposal, my target audience would be the healthcare providers who care for patients with gestational diabetes during pregnancy and after delivery. A great place to disseminate information is at the Association of Women’ Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) convention.

AWHONN is a trusted leader in research, education, and evidence-based practice (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, 2020). Every year AWHONN holds sponsored events that allow healthcare providers the opportunity to listen to speakers, reflect and discuss the emerging and relevant topics, and engage and network with other healthcare providers, sponsors, exhibitors, and educators. AWHONN is the best choice for dissemination of information regarding current care and education for the diabetic patient because they focus on a pragmatic approach to care. There is an opportunity to reduce the gap between science and practice by using strategies that are reasonable, practical, and realistic, increasing the rate of translation of knowledge into practice (Battaglia, & Glasgow, 2018).

The Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing would be my first choice for a professional journal to publish my proposal. This journal is peer reviewed, scientific, and highly respected for publishing articles regarding the latest research, practice issues, policies, opinions, clinical applications, and evidence-based practices (AWHONN, 2020). They also publish case studies, health care improvements and evaluations along with critical commentary. It would be an excellent opportunity to have others read my proposal and receive feedback. I feel that my proposal is a starting place, one that can be built upon for improved patient care and better patient outcomes.
