Article Proposal (5%) Students must select an article from a scholarly, academic, peer-reviewed journal in the field of organizational behaviour and drawing from the macro OB themes of this course. For the proposal the student must provide a short summary of the article and a rationale as to why the theories explored are relevant to the course. Please include the proper citation for the article in APA reference format. The proposal shall be no longer than ½ – ¾ of a page, not including the citation (double spaced, Times New Roman font, size 12 font). Students may not proceed to the Article Critique without completing this assignment and receiving approval. When locating an appropriate article, search the SMU library data base using the key search terms “organizational behaviour” along with an area of OB which interests you e.g. teams, conflict, power, etc. You also can search specific industries: such as sports, health, or finance. Look to the left of the screen to ensure that you are selecting a peer-reviewed article. Make sure that your article is not more than 10 years old.

Article Critique (15%) Using the article selected for the above proposal, students will provide a critical summary of the article and using the following headings: introduction, article summary, main OB theories raised, parallels to organizational behaviour concepts raised in class (how did the article expand your understanding?), conclusion, references. Your assignment should be no longer than 3 pages, not including the citations (double spaced, Times New Roman font, size 12 font and use APA reference format). For references, students may use the course text book and other scholarly, academic, peer-reviewed journal articles.
