Background Information

As I reflected on this week, I began to thinkabout Jesus and all the questions He asked. We know that He did not askquestions because He was looking for the answer. No, rather, He asked questionsso the person He was asking would arrive at that “ah-ha” moment.

InMatthew 16 Jesus posed a question to His disciples. Now, this wasn’t just anyquestion, it was THE question.

“13 Nowwhen Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking Hisdisciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 Andthey said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, [Elijah;but still others, [Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” 15 He*said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 SimonPeter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 AndJesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood didnot reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.”

Takea moment to reflect on Peter’s response. If Jesus asked you the same questionhow would you respond?
