Annotated Bibliography of Cloud Computing In IT

Attiya, I., & Zhang, X. (2017). Cloud Computing Technology: Promises and Concerns. International Journal of Computer Applications, 159(9), 32-37.

Attiya and Zhang explain the cloud computing paradigm, which has seen rapid global economic development in the area of IT. Cloud computing has increased prominence as a modern computing model from its skill to support the delivery and then use of any Information infrastructure, systems, and applications in the form of services that are accessible online over the Internet.

An accomplished journalist, Attiya article provides a new way for scientists and technology researchers to implement technical and data-intensive applications (e.g., science and engineering apps, gaming, computer finance, data mining, and social networking) with no spending on infrastructure. Cloud computing, on the other hand, is one business model. It is founded on the principle of performance optimization, which applies not just to services but also capacity measurement, storage, networking and IT infrastructure. To sum up, the main aim of cloud services is to allow consumers, companies, governments, public and private organizations, and young researchers to take advantage of all the functionality and innovations offered without the need for profound experience or skills for any of them. It also offers a transparent expense method, which aims to reduce costs and help clients focus on its core rather than IT barriers (Attiya & Zhang, 2017).

Bhatt, D. (2012). A Revolution in Information Technology – Cloud Computing. Walailak Journal of Science and Technology, 9(2), 107-113.

Bhatt’s article explains that IT businesses and persons are searching for a way to reduce computing, communication, and storage costs. Cloud Computing is an Internet-based platform that allows “on-demand” measures to resolve these situations, which must be sufficiently malleable for adjustment and flexible to needs. The vast amount of data residing in the cloud for servicing numerous businesses and trying to make safe, sensitive data for businesses must exist in a firm information center while the rest can live in public data centers. Cloud computing reduces the capital and operating costs of running data centers and makes IT companies focus on important projects.

Most consumers need to trust the protection of Cloud services. To provide a Cloud-based service provider with sensitive data or application infrastructure needs confidence that the data was not inadvertently accessed (or hacked) by another entity. The security principle of cloud computing must be operated with as a severe issue as sensitive data exists overcloud. Consumer trust can be built up if network behavior, user behavior, and processing behavior techniques are created. Cloud Computing deflects IT enterprises’ interesting ideas by putting the burden of technical implementation in its cloud. This lets companies focus on their business processes, introducing new technologies. It will boost project efficiency and save a considerable amount of time. For many applications, cloud computing has developed into a non-restrictive platform. Although several problems need to be tackled, the way they use the Internet itself is expected to revitalize (Bhatt, 2012).

Al-Hamadi, H., & Chen, R. (2017). Trust-based decision making for health IoT systems. IEEE Internet of Things Journal, 4(5), 1408-1419.

The onset of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology led to massive innovations involving sensors and IoT devices. The health IoT system consists of numerous devices that are interconnected to enhance the delivery of healthcare services. Since IoT is a developing technology, there are multiple loopholes in these systems that are yet to be addressed through thorough research. Al-Hamadi & Chen (2017) in this study proposes a novel trust-based information sharing strategy for healthcare IoT devices based on location and time. This healthcare IoT-based decision-making system is based on three dimensions, including loss of health, classification of risk, and reliability trust to enhance decision making in IoT systems. The potential of applying new technologies like IoT across different sectors, including healthcare, promotes efficiency, reduces the cost for service delivery, and promotes a better service delivery. The security of IoT systems in healthcare is an issue of central concern that needs urgent solutions for us to benefit from this technology.

Sharma, S., Chen, K., & Sheth, A. (2018). Toward practical privacy-preserving analytics for IoT and cloud-based healthcare systems. IEEE Internet Computing, 22(2), 42-51.

The safety and security of healthcare data are critical issues that are intended to promote patient privacy and confidentiality of critical data. IoT is an advanced technology that allows healthcare providers to collect and analyze patient data to allow for the provision of patient-centred services. However, Sharma et al. 2018 have identified a critical issue concerning patient data privacy during the collection and analysis process. This study focuses on kHealth, a customized healthcare system designed to monitor disease patterns in patients. The study has pointed out the increased for modern technologies to align with the set laws such as HIPPAA when providing services in the healthcare sector. A potential trade-off between patient privacy and efficiency of this system has been examined to determine which quality supersedes the other. As such, patient privacy should be at the core of IoT systems, but these systems should not compromise on efficiency as this may lower the quality of services offered. This study has concluded by acknowledging the increased reliance on patient data by healthcare IoT systems and the need to maintain privacy when conducting analytics on this data.
