DISCUSSION SPECIFICS:

Scan and review the media for one of the following four incidents (no other cases please):

• George Zimmerman shooting of Trayvon Martin in Sanford Florida
• Ariel Castro (victims Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Georgina “Gina” DeJesus/Cleveland Ohio)
• The “Dark Knight” case (suspect James Holmes/Aurora Colorado)
• The Boston Marathon bombings

1. After reviewing the case, analyze the case for the presence (or absence) of evidence to (1) determine that a crime occurred, (2) identify the perpetrator, and (3) apprehend the perpetrator.
2. When possible, discuss the types and functions of evidence that are present (or absent) in the case.
3. Discuss your findings and comment on your opinions related to the investigation.
