Dissemination of EBP research is important in professional practice. My specialty area in nursing is in obsteterics/mother-baby, primarily in labor and delivery. My proposed EBP project is the use of early SSC immediately following delivery of a term, heathly newborn to facilitate breastfeeding and/or newborn/paternal bonding. We are fortunate in this specialty to have a dedicated, official clinical professional nursing specialty journal called the Nursing for Women’s Health journal published by the American Association for Obstetrical and Neonatal Nurses organization (AWHOON). It’s stated mission is to improve outcomes for women and newborns through the dissemination of clinical scholarship. Thus, this journal would be a logical choice if I were to attempt to publish my SSC project to promote knowledge of this EBP intervention. AWHOON also sponsors yearly conferences and presenting this research evidence at one of these conferences would also be a solid choice as well, both for colleague support and assumed pertinent interest in this subject.

One professional journal I might present my project is Journal of Tissue Viability. It is a quarterly peer-reviewedmedical journal covering all aspects of the occurrence and treatment of wounds, ulcers, and pressure sores. including patient care, pain, nutrition, wound healing, research, prevention, and mobility It is published by Elsevier.

One nursing or health care conference I might present my project will be World Nursing Conference. This conference brings together individuals who have an interest in different fields of nursing like psychiatric, cancer, cardiac, critical care, adult & women health, legal, pediatric and emergency nursing, midwifery, public health, healthcare and medicine from practice, research, administration, policy and education. It is a forum to explore issues of mutual concern as well as exchange knowledge, share evidence and ideas, and generate solutions. It aims to discover advances in health practice, management and education in relation to health disparities as well as a breadth of other topics.

Decreasing and preventing CAUTI rates in hospital settings is an important topic to cover and be educated and informed about because catheter-associated urinary tract infections remain to be one of the most common hospital acquired infections. Patients go through unnecessary treatments and longer hospitalization stays than expected. For this reason, the American Journal of Infection Control is the appropriate place to publish and share this information to not only nurses but all health care professionals. The AJIC remains active in sharing the most common and updated information on infection control throughout the hospital and what the best plan of patient care is so that we can decrease overall infection rates. The AJIC also recommends the nurse driven protocol to remove indwelling catheters when indications are no longer met for patients with catheters and strongly encourages the implementation of this protocol throughout all hospital settings. In 2017 an 83% reduction was observed during the planning and pilot of a nurse driven protocol for urinary management and Foley removal (Haley, 2018). The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is an excellent conference for all healthcare professionals to attend and continue to learn and engage in a learning dynamic with other professionals. This conference allows for healthcare professionals to become experts in infection control and treatment and is a great opporunity to present the topic of CAUTIs. Attending conferences allows us to stay active with the work we do and learn about the most recent and advanced research on the care we provide our patients with.
