The issue of a national healthcare system in the United States has proponents and opponents. Even so, the United States is the only developed country in the world that does not extend healthcare coverage to every citizen. Is this a strength or a weakness? How does this affect the various stakeholder groups? Several attempts have come up short in the endeavor to ensure every American has health insurance.

Upon successful completion of the course material, you will be able to:

Background Information

Dramatic changes in private and public health insurance have created uncertainty as to the future of employer-based insurance and state-based exchanges. Most policy decisions are responsive to uninsured groups, and private insurance is attempting to address the rising costs associated with employer-based programs.

Instructions

1. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
2. Review chapters 6-7, in Changing the U.S. Health Care System: Key Issues in Health Services Policy and Management.
3. Write three paragraphs identifying and describing three trends in private health insurance.
4. Use proper APA citation format and include a title and reference page.
5. Submit your draft using the Assignment prior to submitting your final paper.
