Where to Begin/What to Research for the Script

To begin, everyone will prepare a script/essay on the topic of Spain´s cultural festivals which they will read on a Canvas Studio Video Recording or Mp3 recording.-.

–Do a Google search on any 3 of the following cultural festivals/celebrations in Spain:

La Tamborrada, La Tomatina, La Fiesta de San Fermin, Las Fallas de Valencia, La Semana Santa de Sevilla, La Calcotada, La Feria de Sevilla, La fiesta de los Patios en Cordoba. (Note: remember these are celebrations only in Spain, not in Central/South America).

–Describe each celebration in an essay (in Spanish) with a minimum of 300 words, use Double-Spacing, and write 5 paragraphs: an introductory paragraph telling what you are going to talk about, 3 paragraphs with one about each festival, a conclusion paragraph.

What to Include about each celebration or festival:

1 Nombre: ¿Cómo se llama el festival/la celebración?

2 Lugar/Fecha: ¿Dónde (en qué ciudad o región de España) y cuándo se celebra?

3 Orígenes/Historia: ¿Cuándo empezó esta celebración (en qué año, siglo, etc) y por qué se celebra? Menciona la historia. Es una celebración nacional, religiosa, local, etc.? Explica con 2 frases.

4 Preparativos: ¿Qué preparativos se hacen antes del evento? ¿Hay decoraciónes, banderas, serpentinas, puestos de comida/bebidas/artesanías para comprar?

5 Música: ¿Qué música se oye en esta celebración o se asocia con este lugar en España?

6 Participación: Imagine that you attended each celebration last year. Use the preterite tense to tell what you saw and did at each event.

7 Conclusión: Use 2 formal Usted commands to tell a visitor what he/she should see, do, buy, take photos of for each celebration. For example, Visite Sevilla y saque fotos de____, etc.

After writing the Script:

Include a 3 photos (one of each celebration) and identify each photo/image in Spanish.
Add the Bibliography (Bibliografía) with 3 sources .
Make a Canvas Studio Video Recording or Mp3 using your script and speak clearly in Spanish for a minimum of 2.0-2.5 minutes..


